PNG image not displayed in chat (preview) when file size >5 MB

  • Android version: Android 11.

  • Device: Fairphone FP2 (Lineage OS 18.1 build RQ3A.211001.001 bfa3c18745 from 2024-01-12).

  • Delta Chat version: 1.42.6 (nightly built on 2024-02-01).

  • Expected behavior: An image from a PNG file is displayed in the chat as preview.

  • Actual behavior: An image from a PNG file is not displayed in the chat as preview. Further troubleshooting seems to break the issue down to the byte size of the image file.

  • Steps to reproduce the problem: -- Send an email that contains some text and an attached PNG file with a size of >5 MB by using a MUA, e.g. Webmail. (You can use the bigger file attached to this issue, see below.) -- Open the chat "Saved messages". (Result: The image preview is blank.)

  • Screenshots: N/A.

  • Logs: N/A.
