-oOC outputs numbers larger than the sample size

In the manual it is specified that -oOC returns the number of different mutational origins in the sample, and it is stressed that it is the origins number in the sample and not population.

However, -oOC returns numbers that are higher than the sample size. How is that possible?

For example, with a simulation of 10 samples, the origin count varies between 18 and 32.
