Possible to create regularly-updated notes instead of just the sidebar list of to dos?

Hi,

Thanks again for this great plugin, which has become central to my workflow.

I am wondering how difficult it would be to essentially recreate the sidebar (perhaps with some customisations, like isolating #todo/sub-list from all items tagged #todo) in one or more designated notes that the plugin kept updated. This way, it would be possible to, say embed all items tagged #todo/today in today's daily note.

I am looking exactly for this type of feature. Any input on how/whether it would be possible to generate a note that collects all the information currently in the sidebar would bye extremely helpful.

Is the purpose so that it creates a snapshot and persists? or just convenience in the view being inside of a note rather than the sidebar?

From my purpose, having a note with includes all the todos would allow me to use that to more easily use that data (e.g. to export them or keep the list in synch with external todo manager)

Maybe you would be interested in the 'Tasks' plugin: https://github.com/schemar/obsidian-tasks? I'm not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for, though.

Obsidian tasks is great but the plugin doesn't search for task the same way Checklist does.

Checklist searches for blocks of tasks under tags and you can have multiple tags in the file. I would love to do queries like that in a note to filter certains tags.

The Tasks plugin lets you filter by tags but the tag has to be in the task, like that :

- [ ] do something 📅 2022-10-04 #todo/category

I could work with that but it's painful where checklist is soooo better.

Another way to filter by tag is to use dataview but it is still painful because it selects ALL tasks in a file where your tag is, regardless of blocks like checklist do.

I'm wondering if the best thing to do is to ask the Tasks plugin developper to add a feature to sort tasks like Checklist or to ask the Checklist developper to add a feature to query tasks in a note ️🤷
