passing a flag like, -container-runtime or -cr during runtime would reduce the overall time taken to scan images when underlying runtime is known to user.

Yes, having a flag to specify the runtime would be very helpful and speed up the scan significantly. Maybe having option for -runtime which allows passing containerd, crio ,or docker.
