Research Payment Gateways

Open avishkar58 opened this issue 5 years ago • 8 comments

We need the ability to accept credit card payments in Baobab. Research some options for payment gateways. In particular, document their:

  • Pricing (fixed and marginal costs; we'll only be processing a few hundred payments per year)
  • Integration (how good/easy to use is their API, can we fully integrated their service into Baobab, or will it involve redirecting the user to their website?)
  • Reporting
  • Range of credit cards supported (we should have support for Amex!)
  • Fraud detection
  • Support for, and how they handle different currencies
  • Any restrictions (particularly if they have any restrictions on countries they accept payments from)
  • Any other functionality they provide that might be useful

Also research and document any compliance we need to consider (eg PCI ) when handling credit cards.

Flutterwave comes to my mind, I haven't researched the support of Amex! But it's a good start and one of the best in Africa.

I am putting together a document to record all this information about Payment Gateways.

Please feel free to contribute - even if it's just an idea of a gateway ! That will help a lot

@avishkar58 Is "reporting" the same as invoicing, or more how the transactions etc. are recorded? :)

@Siobhan Hall [email protected] more about recording of transactions and stats.. for example suppose someone says they paid but something went wrong on baobab side, do they provide tools or reports that allow us to see what happened on their side?

Got it ! :D

From the table, Worldpay and Stripe look like they should be on the shortlist. The reporting descriptions are a bit sketchy, but as soon as we have a solid shortlist I'll contact those gateways directly for more information :)

De-prioritised until we need this feature (next Indaba?)
