rustypipe.deepraven.co redirects to a weird site
When I go to rustypipe.deepraven.co, it goes to theconnectvpn.com.
Also, does Rusty Pipe have a privacy policy?
Oh sorry about that, that domain expired, new domain is rustypipe.deepraven.xyz I'll update.
And no rustypipe doesn't have privacy policy atm, It does not collect any data so I don't know what privacy policy is needed
Great! Thank you for the new domain 🙂
I have some notes on the video player and site. Take from them as you wish, just my suggestions on how to make this site even better 😊
- I think it can benefit from a volume bar. As of now, the only way to lower the volume on a computer is to install an extension like 600% Sound Volume to control the volume for each tab. The other way, of course, is to lower the device volume, but that'd also decrease the volume of everything else.
- There is a problem with seeking. When I move the slider, and release the hold on a particular place, the slider doesn't drop at that place. Instead, it kinda skips over. So imagine if you want the slider to be at 2:31, but instead it goes to 2:35. Here is a video demo.

- Speaking of which, I can't see the timestamp when I move the slider. This is how Invidious currently does it:

- The right and left arrow keys behave in a way that, if you press them once, they only move one second, but if you hold onto them, they accelerate. I think two things can be modified here: change the time skipped to 5 or 10 seconds, and disable acceleration. If someone wants to go to a timestamp far away, using their mouse or sliding the seeker on their smartphones would be a much better solution.
- I also noticed that the right and left arrow keys don't work unless I click on the slider or any timestamp. I think the arrow keys should work without having that extra click. Demo here shows the first few seconds I didn't click the slider or any timestamp. You can see I can't skip right or left. However, after clicking, I can:

- Also, when I'm skipping with arrow keys, sometimes even when I skip right, the video player skips left. Or sometimes, when I skip left, the video player instead skips right. Demo shows video skipping from 1:58 back to 1:01:

- Another feature that would greatly enhance Rusty Pipe are keyboard shortcuts. Shortcuts like up and down arrow keys for volume, M for mute, numbers for percent seeking (1 = 10% of video, 2 = 20% of video, etc.), space key and/or K for playing/pausing, others.
- The loop button isn't working at this moment.
- The buttons below the video aren't correctly aligned. Additionally, the the 58.86 with a k under it looks awkward.

Thank you for implementing a mini player! This is amazing. I do wanna say that there is no way to go back into regular mode after entering the mini player. There is no expand button like the one in YouTube:
-
It'd be awesome if a dark mode can be included. Also prefers-color-scheme (even if as an opt in) would be a nice touch so that RP switches themes according to system theme.
-
There is a problem with quality options. On Invidious, I see the regular ones like 720p, 1080p, 1440p, 2160p, etc.
On Rusty Pipe, I see this instead:
- The text in the description box has two spaces for every space. I didn't find the same problem in the title text, only text in description box.
Thanks for all the suggestions, really appreciate all the work and time you put in making such a comprehensive list. Since these are all front end related, I'll open separate issue in https://github.com/deep-gaurav/rusty_pipe_front/issues for each, and hopefully fix/implement them soon.
No pressure please! Take it at your pace. I wanted to make suggestions so this great site can become even better. If you find it too cumbersome to fix everything, you can always use and even fork existing players such as Plyr, that way it can save you some time. But if you don’t like existing players, there’s no problem with that either.
