basic renaming template
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. When i go to batch rename files it remembers the previous rename i use and puts the cursor at the end of it. meaning i have to delete the text, keep the dynamic modifier and then type the new name. same goes for renaming a single file.
Describe the solution you'd like a way to set that when renaming multiple files for the name to be empty except the modifiers i want, for example the counter, and the cursor to start from the beginning. so that the moment i press the rename button i can start typing. and a separate one for single file. because i dont use any dynamic modifier for those. but still would like to not need to delete the field before i can start typing.
Describe alternatives you've considered maybe a less complicated solution where theres no exact control on the default except it starting clear and what modifiers separated by single and batch. that is personally all i would need but im sure others might have a use for the default text to also be changeable which is why i wrote my solution in the previous paragraph as i did
an option to just have the rename field blank each time will also be a fine compromise as needing to press the + button and choose a modifier is less friction then needing to delete the name field first
Additional context as someone who saves and categorizes a LOT of images it becomes impossible to find images without renaming. however the slight friction of the current way renaming works means i dont rename as many files as i would like to.
unrelated: i really love the new long press the move button to choose folder. thank you for all your work
For single renaming, I think a possible solution would be to open the dialog with the same content, but the text would be already selected. So if a user needs the existing name, they can tap (or move the cursor with keyboard gestures) to edit at the beginning/end/whatever. But if a user doesn't need the existing name (like you), they can just start typing, which will erase the selected content.
For batch renaming, I don't really understand what you mean to keep and what you mean to delete. In any case it seems no solution will fit all use cases, without adding complicated settings. So I'll probably apply to batch renaming the same preselection I mentioned for single renaming (for consistency), but nothing more.

Maybe tagging would be a good alternative to renaming?

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy it!
what i meant in the batch renaming is that when i select a group of images. i always have the counter at the end of the name. i would want the option to have it stay there when i rename a batch. so that when i click rename and instantly start typing that i wouldnt have to add the counter manually. however the solution where the name is preselected so that i can instantly start writing is also fine. as its easier to press + and add the counter then the current way it works.
also. i do use tags. (though, the webp and webm limit does hinder me but i understand its due to a library not having support for it) but i want to rename things more because easily being able to find exact images in a pinch is important to me.
