Use downloaded open street maps
It would be nice if you could use maps you've downloaded to your device. Similar to how OSM Dashboard Offline works. It tells you where you can download maps and then you put them in a folder and then select that folder in the app and then it'll use those maps.
Out of curiosity, why do you prefer offline maps? Is it to limit mobile data usage, to see additional POIs on custom layers, or something else?
Hi, I just came across this issue and wanted to give you a potential answer =) From my point of view, there are two main reasons why you would prefer a downloaded map.
- As you pointed out, if you have a downloaded version you could save on data usage, or use the feature without an internet connection.
- Sometimes I have issues with the map not loading. The images are placed according to their geotags, but the map won't load. Or similar, if I zoom in, it won't load a more precise version of the map.
I am having this issue too. Sometimes the map does not load, or take too much time to load. Aves could have a off-line map cash, since most of the time people take photos in the same places (home, work). It would be not necessary to load the map of these places every time.
@Robert321245 do you have this cache issue with all layers? There are 2 different engines: one for Google layers, 1 for the others. I believe the cache for the Google layers works well, but maybe there's an issue with the cache for the others.
I don't use google layers (I use a google free phone Graphene OS). The issue happens with the OpenStreetMaps layers.
