File format and extension warning

When opening a .xls file generated by this package I get message "The file format and extension of <>.xlsx don't match." with Microsoft Excel for 365. I can click open anyways to continue onto a working copy of the file, but is there a way to stop producing this warning in the first place?

I have the exact same problem with XLS
