Not working in mobile

Open kmaustral opened this issue 3 years ago • 10 comments

This is a wonderful plug-in that makes working on the desktop so much more productive. But currently, I have to disable it everytime I used mobile. The X for closing the pane does not appear in mobile, either phone or tablet. The pane also extends beyond the screen.

I've run into the same issue here. Not sure how things work, but maybe there is an option for it to be disabled if mobile is detected.

Alternatively, could there be an option for the pane width to max out at the window width? For example, if pane with is 700 and window width is 500, the plugin should have each pane just be full-screen (I'm guessing here?)

Would be good to make it usable on phone via gestures to navigate via panes(idk if its possible). Or just disable it for the first time

Amazing plugin and could work incompletely in mobile. I found some bugs:

  • the rotated header cannot be aligned at central of title, it's on the right side of the title in my iPad device.
  • these are no settings in command palette like desktop, such as "Toggle Sliding Panes; Toggle Rotated Headers".

I really hope to use the complete edition of this amazing plugin in mobile.

In the meantime, does anyone here happen to know how to disable a plugin in mobile only? (I still want all my Obsidian plugins and settings to be synced, and use this plugin on desktop)

+1 Android user here.

As the general rule is to sync everything in your vault between devices (including hidden files), Siding Panes also sync, which as already said it's not working ok on mobile devices.

It would be nice that the plugin offers an option to disable it only on mobile devices.

What I'm currently doing is disabling the plugin when I use the phone, and enabling it when I use the computer.

Desktop vs Mobile You can use different configuration folders for mobile and desktop (Settings > About > Override config folder). You can create the folder .obsidian.mobile for different theme, plugins, css snippets,... and in mobile app choose that config. folder to override the desktop config. folder.

For anyone else looking for a meh solution that doesn't involve maintaining 2 separate copies of your config, open the command palette on mobile and type "panes" and you should see the command "Toggle Sliding Panes". You can toggle it off on mobile and back on when you want it, as @ggyanez suggests

In mobile instead of toggling the panes off, toggling the pane's auto width too off also helps. Should be available if you search with panes.

Perhaps it will be great to make a slide panel on the mobile phone sliding vertical. Or add the button which be change rotate of sliding.
