Should we trust this anymore?
Well everyone knows about the distaster with The Great Suspender. Or now better known as Malware.
Since this is the same (Old) owner. Should we even trust this? Or will we have the same shit here?
No use trusting someone who sells a project to an unknown entity. If the identity was known, everything would have been fine.
Ah yes, nothing better than necro-ing an ancient repository questioning the legitimacy of the developer himself, while the source code has always been there... for years.
If you have doubts, you can just simply drop the extension & everything related to the author. You won't be gaining much asking around here - I'll personally wait for an audit/confirmation from the author himself, because so far everything I've seen here seems to cast him in a bad light - especially we haven't known his side of the story yet.
While I almost completely agree;
The developer has had multiple months to come up with a reply, nothing concrete of yet. I do not think an audit or confirmation from the developer is needed to understand the issue, the intention is apparent. Like hundreds of repositories that go through a maintainer that no longer wants to keep maintaining.
The course of action speaks of the individual and I think it's important not to enable such behaviour in the open source community.
But it isn't a conversation for the issues tab.
There is absolutely no reason to trust this extension or anything built by @deanoemcke, as he refuses to reveal the identity of the almost certainly malicious new maintainer of The Great Suspender, despite putting literally 1 million+ users at risk.
Starting from a clean fork, hopefully listed on the Chrome Store soon... https://github.com/rkodey/the-great-er-discarder-er
