Mention which devices are compatible?

Open cofilippo opened this issue 6 months ago • 11 comments

I know it says which software is supported, but it would be nice to see a list in the readme of supported devices and which features are working or not working (yet)

They are all supported as this just implements the cloud API, which they all use.

Great, then this information should be in the README. I, as a prospective buyer of a reMarkable, but only if I can replace the cloud dependency, am looking for that kind of info and would like to know without any ambiguity. I think this needs to be said explicitly.

As this is open source, you can open a PR to add this to the readme.

I don't know how to make a PR on GH.

I don't have a branch with the change and don't have my machine set up to make it work. Nor am I going to put any work in to make that happen. I'm not a developer (any more).

Then this will sit until someone is willing to make a change to the readme.

Supported devices are already in the README (see the very top): https://github.com/ddvk/rmfakecloud/blob/master/README.md

It has been added in https://github.com/ddvk/rmfakecloud/pull/254

Working features are detailed in the documentation.

@nemunaire Not in any way which a normal person would understand. If you think the documentation is even close to being easily understood, then I have to disappoint you there. It is not. Mosty due to being too terse, and in case of the 'home' page, also because it is poorly formatted (and seemingly incomplete)

But I've discovered the GH editor and made a PR that way without needing to set up my machine.

Based on your work and wishes, I revamped the README.

Tell me if the new layout is clearer and shows the important information you were looking for.

Yes, this README is much easier to understand. I think your implementation is much better. Thanks for picking this up.

Perhaps, if/when I get my reMarkable, I will make some more suggestions to the docs, once I learn more about the workings of the device and this software.
