troubles with adjusted page number

The hacks offer the super-useful option of adjusting the page numbering in pdfs. Whenever I set it, it works as expected. The trouble I'm having is that documents seem to adjust randomly their page numbering over time. It happens e.g. in Quick Sheets, where I never adjust anything (but I had to reset the numbering a few times), but also in pdfs. Is there anything I could do to prevent that behavior?

@ddvk I tested it a bit more, and it seems that if I set it in one file, the same page number shift is applied to all other files. I don't remember when this behavior started and how it evolved. (I was not adding or removing pages in those files).
