multiple files open at the same time?

When I use the ddvk recents menu to open a file, it will show glitches of other files on the screen. There seems to be no clear pattern which files will be glitching, but it's usually the same ones. It seems to me as if there are two files open at the same time and competing for screen real estate. This started happening after I updated the software to 2.14 and repatched.
I don't know what tests I could do to pin down the problem but if you have suggestions I can perform them.

UPDATE: I have found that I can find back things I wrote in other files in the files that were opened by glitching on occasion. I have also experiences some text disappearing after having this glitch occur and, most strikingly have two pages flip their order in a notebook.
