Compacter view of folders and files?
I love the way the reMarkable displays folders when being in "Grid" view. It's so space efficient and I don't mind if folder names miss the space when getting too long. I have many folders and need this. However in the same mode files take so much space due to the preview.
On the other hand "List" view is great for my files, because I often have books that have long titles, because they contain author names, but it's a complete waste of space for folder names.
What I wish was either to have the ability to display folders like in "Grid" view and files like in "List" view ... or to simply have two columns in "List" view, even when it means that I cannot read the full name of my book files.
Why this is so important, well, scrolling is tedious due to the ink display. I have many files, I even have to scroll in my favorite folders and files, it's not fun anymore. I have really no benefit in seeing the cover thumbnails, because I often know what I want to open, but searching or scrolling is cumbersome when doing so all day long. I try to use the "recent" feature as best as I can, but I have many different topics in my life where I use this tablet (I.e. different customers in my work, private stuff, fun stuff, reading and taking notes). In every of those areas I am required to switch between many files, because it helps me so much, thus my "recent" section loses old fields of area pretty quickly and I end up searching and navigating for everything when I move on to the next area again.
It's slowly getting out of control and I need help. :/
this is possible, folders from gridview and files in listview
@ddvk Sounds great, I would love that. Maybe having a third view mode called "Compact" perhaps?
I just updated to 2.11.0.442, didn't expect you to implement this so fast. @ddvk Thank you so much, I love this, finally have some more space in the list view, it's a relief.
@ddvk Do you think it would be possible to repeat the process for OneDrive, GoogleDrive and Dropbox? It seems those integrations use a different list viewer.
@ddvk I am not fond of this change.
Since that, no view allows a proper display of long folder names anymore :-(
Moreover, searching à folder alphabetically is easier with a list view from top to bottom, so I think this can't be eliminated from the interface
Do you see an implementation that could makes both sides happy ?
Maybe a second button in the menu, switching between "Folder-List" / "Folder-Grid" ?

another edge case, I'll add an option to toggle that
