Lefthanded bookmarks position (top left) makes rM nearly unusable

Open stefan-wiesner opened this issue 3 years ago • 9 comments

I am lefthanded and naturally my hand is often in the top left corner. It seems to be the position to add a bookmark too. So when I am writing I see and cancel the creatze bookmark screen up to ten times till I reach the point lower on the page where my hand does not touch the corner.

I am on .98. Can it somehow being disabled or moved to the right side taking into consideration the settings of rM if you are left or righthanded?

You can disable it through the settings. When a document is open, click the bottom-most toolbar icon (looks like a box with an error coming out of it's corner.) That has a Bookmarks toggle which can turn off the bookmarks corner "button".

As a fellow lefty, I also would love to see the bookmark position respect the left/right handed setting in the reMarkable OS. While disabling the bookmarks helps avoid accidental activation, it doesn't help us actually use the feature. :)

I guess the hacks actually do respect the left/right handed settings -- the bookmark is in the upper right corner in right handed mode. Having said that it doesn't seem to help for lefties: as the hand/arm position is different from righties and usually coming "around from above the text" the left upper corner will be in the way.

So that's a question lefties can answer best: where would be a good position for the bookmark that would not interfere with writing?

Same problem yall are having... while the bookmarks feature seems useful I press it on accident continuously when I try to write near the top of my RM2.

Glad it can at least be disabled.

I'm not a left-hander, but I think this would work: For right-hander leave the bookmark icon on the top right and for left-hander just move it a few pixels to the left, so it's next to the right bar.

@ddvk, thank you in advance for taking suggestions!

As a lefty, I concur with @martin-braun -- leaving it on the top edge, but moving it just to the left of where the vertical toolbar sits -- would accomplish the same purpose that the current location does for righties.

I also think it would be helpful to be able to add a bookmark via a "+" option when you press the bookmark icon on the toolbar. The "+" could just sit at the top or bottom of the list of bookmarks.

Thanks!

Thanks a lot. Thet helped. I don't understand why you lefties want to move it more to the left side... The toolbar is on the right side and the bookmarks area should then also be on the right side that you cannot accidently touch it with you hand. At least 1/3rd if not the half screen to the right I would say to feel safe...

For my part, I'm NOT suggesting moving it "more to the left side." I'm suggesting, as is @martin-braun , that it gets moved to the right side, just to the left of the toolbar.
