regarding the roadmap discussion: what about using milestones with descriptions and just link them from the README? i think this has a chance of less being forgotten to be updated...
i think that would be good. gives some credits and can increase ownership. maybe we should distinguish between active development / "keeping an eye on it" / looking for maintainer....
