Buttons on software do not correspond with buttons on launchpad

When I choose a button to set a hotkey and start editing it the hotkey goes in a completely different place on the launchpad then what it shows up in the software. Can anyone help?

Do you have an MK2 launchpad? I had the same problem and realized that I had an MK2, which is not supported. However, for me, the issue was easily worked around.
