Visual position editor

Add a visual position editor that would allow users to easily create FEN strings by clicking on the board to put pieces down. Specifically, add a menu item (e.g. Window > Position Editor) that displays a board and can export FEN strings.

I would like this.

IMO, this is the only important missing feature: the ability to easily set up positions in stockfish-mac, and then analyze them. :+1:

I searched a while and didnt find it in the menu, now I see that is not possible. This is a main thing in a chess app, to edit the position to analyze a game etc.

I'd really like to manually set up a starting position. Without this absolutely basic feature, it's a pain to analyse a game. I recently played a game which I noted on a piece of paper. I want to analyse my position after 28th move, so right now in order to do it I need to move the pieces one by one as the game progressed. It's really a pain, but in the same time, I'd like to know if this will be implemented in the future. It's almost the end of 2018 and from what I see people are asking for it since 2014, and nothing happened so far.

There’s a workaround which is to write out the FEN string, and then paste it in.

I unfortunately don’t have the time to add new features, but somebody else might be able to pick up the development here.
