cannot enter password in FileVault Setup if using alternate keyboard
I have an employee who uses the OS X spanish keyboard layout. His password has the @ symbol in it, but nothing specific to spanish. When he is at the login window, he has to type in his password using the US layout, as the alternate layout is not available. When FileVault Setup opens during the login process, it will not accept his password - we've tried setting his environment back to US keyboard, tried different keyboards. The keyboards themselves are standard Apple US english, the spanish layout is being processed by the OS.
any ideas?
Interesting. I will be honest, I have no experience in dealing with localizations, but if I were to hazard a guess...
It may be that the user's own preferences for keyboard input source are being loaded after the loginwindow is dismissed, but BEFORE FileVaultSetup is loaded.
You could try removing/moving ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/ in the affected user's home dir and see if that makes a difference.
Did you get to try my suggestion? Was there any change in behaviour?
I have not had a chance to try that yet. Will report back here when I have results.
