Losing my tags as I import a file

Open matbc92 opened this issue 5 years ago • 3 comments

When I export a document from google docs as a docx file and later try to import it again uploading the file back to google docs, all the tags I've made become some weird things like #bookmark=id.z337ya and I have no idea why. I thought it my be the other editor I was using that messed up the hyperlinks but, not only the hyperlinks show up alright on the editors but also the problem still showed up in a file that I just exported and imported with no changes made to it. So it is probably something that google docs is doing to and maybe that is some way to work around it, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, there's cutely no way to restore those bookmarks because, as you point out, Google docs formats then weirdly on export.

I was planning to address this at once point but I'm no longer maintaining this project in afraid. Your only option is to write a g script to restore them im afraid

could you by any chance offer me any help on how to write such a script, I have no clue of the syntax of this thing, furthermore I'm a bit of a newbie into coding as a whole, so if it wouldn't be too much to ask, a bit of help would be greatly appretiated

This is back on the table. I'm planning to create some utilities such as strip links and repair links in copied document. If the latte works, there might be a way to achieve what you've asked for.
