Problems running Nano and NCURSES on oterm

There is a problem with running nano. It doesn't recognize up and down keys. Also a lot of unknown color code problems show up when I run an NCURSES based editor. It also doesn't show the box lines but replaces them with

It keeps showing unknown color code 100, 93, and 38.

Up and down keys doesn't seem to work on it.

Also in NCURSES is shows the window border lines as Xs.
