Default time of publication

Open ghost opened this issue 3 years ago • 4 comments

When setting up a date via the "Date:" metadata at the beginning of a post, it sets the time too, and apparently at midnight in one of the US timezones. On the blog it doesn't matter, but the RSS entry can sometimes appear 10 hours "earlier" therefore being displayed with items long read before.

Right now to avoid this I don't set a date when I publish (so everything is at the right time), but then I lack this metadata for future proofing my files.

My plan is to inherit the 'time' if the file creation data matches the date metadata.

This isn't implemented yet, but I will get to it and follow up here.

So, if you publish a post on December 1st at 1:23 PM with the following metadata:

Date: December 1st, 2022

The end result will be a post dated December 1st, 1:23 PM

I have noticed the time is always wrong on my blog when I publish it like this. Is this a known bug then? I can't see a clear way to fix it myself...

You can work around this issue by specifying the time along with the date in your metadata:

Date: 2023-04-13 11:22

The feature discussed above is something I plan to add soon

Is that if I self host only though? I am just using blot.im to do it so not sure what you mean on the site. I just came here when searching for a solution to the issue when searching. I should have just posted here: https://blot.im/questions/1628 but I will do some more research later and let you know feel free to ignore my comments here I think I am confusing myself lol.
