iMac (iMac 18,2) can't go below 15% sound

I've been experiencing a persistent issue with the snd_hda_macbookpro patch, where if the volume for the internal speakers is set below 15%, no sound is produced. It's happened on Arch and Fedora, across multiple kernel and patch versions. Is there any information that I can provide which would help diagnose and remedy this issue?

System information:

  • Machine: iMac 18,2
  • Sound chip: Cirrus Logic CS42L83 audio codec, via iFixit's teardown
  • CPU: Intel Core i5 7400
  • RAM: 8 GB, 2400 MHz
  • GPU: AMD Radeon Pro 555
