DOI with "weird" characters not found

I got this DOI: 10.1002/(SICI)1096-987X(19990115)20:1<12::AID-JCC4>3.0.CO;2-U which is valid as far as I can see: it's copied from the journal page and works on dx.doi.org, but on doi2bib.org it gives "Not Found". I guess it's some of the characters that are not being properly treated
