Started using these some months ago for our design team and they're great.

• Number of people who use them: currently only the design team is using them for the #design-status daily update channel on Slack, so 7 people out of our 40 person company
• How it's helped: it's super easy to for various people to quickly get a feel for what the whole design team is doing on a daily basis.

There are a few enhancements we've added that have made it work even better. One is that we added a calendar emoji. I'm not very good at Github, otherwise I'd make a PR or something, but here's the emoji in case you want to integrate it. The calendar emoji is used to identify meetings and the like. Those meetings always go to the bottom of the list.

The second enhancement is that we always sort our todo items in priority order. That way, our producers (aka, project managers) can easily verify that what they expect designers to be working on is correct and if needed, respond to the status update in a thread to propose a different prioritization if there is something amiss.
