Serious I18N issues

I’m using the jQuery version of the calendar on the frontend which doesn’t seem to load the translated strings.

In the backend I’ve got similar problems: I managed to write a German translation (you’ll receive a pull request for this) but can’t manage to translate date and time in the European format. We do not have A.M. and P.M. over here and to the European eye it’s very distracting to not have our date format.
