setup_var and setup_var_3 issues with Lenovo ThinkStation P310 SFF

Both commands say they have successfully set the Above 4G setting on my pc (0x3) to 0x1 and the change is saved even after a reboot. But the issue is, even though it says it's enabled. It's not. I tried setting it back to 0x0, rebooting, and setting it to 0x1 again but no luck. It says it's enabled but it's not.

I have CSM and fast boot disabled. I tried on the original bios on my pc and the most recent version available from Lenovo. Still no luck. Has anyone gotten it to work on a Lenovo ThinkStation P310 SFF or has Lenovo locked down the bios so much it's not possible to edit it in any way?
