UI issues when cloning big dats

Open beingalink opened this issue 8 years ago • 3 comments

dat-cli v.13.6.0

I was just cloning a big dat (6.3 GB) and had some strange ui behavior. The source was hosted on windows without working utp if that matters.

First it said that it's cloning an empty archive and gave download speed without the download bar for ca. 30 seconds or so (didn't measure time, this is felt time).

Then the download bar appeared but it was going backwards still saying that it's an empty archive.

After a felt minute the progress bar started to go forward and the ui behaved as it was expected to.

here's the dat - it's eLife articles for sciencefair - feel free to use for testing (and if anyone wants to seed it that would be appreciated too 😊)

This is an issue with the progress bars on dats with lots of files, and is on the todo list. Thanks for reporting!

Using the latest dat (13.8.2) on Debian and this 200 MiB archive with 20,000 files: dat://019d05c89e9469d401730172b6eb52e7880c1550fda1720671f76c7229a80bae

After a little while (less than an hour), the seed shows 0 connections, although I have 2 other peers syncing to it. Then, syncing stop until I restart the dats (the seed and 2 peers).

When I restart it, the percentage goes from 20,000% to 2000% and eventually stops at 100% if I'm lucky. Sometimes, It's a little above or below 100% and when that's the case, it won't sync and I have to restart.

I was seeing the same behaviour with 13.8.1 and maybe earlier versions too.

It's not just a UI problem - or maybe it's another bug and I should open another issue. Let me know.
