--debug option

Right now --debug
option does not work. To debug you have to DEBUG=dat [cmd]
.
I tried various things to try to get both option and env variable to work but failed.

I think it's ok to make people do DEBUG=dat [cmd] for now!
There's a --debug flag, but it throws dat in a loop endlessly repeating:
