Maintain a Grafana Chart
Pangeo is publishing some grafana dashboards of their cluster usage, including their Dask clusters, at http://grafana.us-central1-b.gcp.pangeo.io/grafana/d/a_khcwhWk/dask?orgId=1&refresh=5s. This is based off of (I think) @ig248's chart at https://grafana.com/grafana/dashboards/11522.
It works well out of the box, but there are few issues (we're monitoring multiple namespaces, which breaks some of the queries). I have a few questions:
- Is it reasonable to expect that a single grafana dashboard can be useful for multiple users? Probably at least some baseline value, which can be customized further?
- Is there value in an official Dask grafana dashboard? I think so, to spread the maintenance burden around.
- Is anyone interested in helping out with this, either implementing the chart or providing feedback on what would be desirable?
- I think having something that folks can get started with and then customise to their own requirements has value
- Having something centrally managed sounds reasonable. The Grafana store seems to have a mix of maintained ones and user submissions.
- I have experience with Grafana, but may not be best placed to design the dashboard. I'm very happy to help out, but having a user involved who would actively use the dashboard would be important for making sure it answers questions they may have about what the cluster is doing.
