CMP 90 HX Power Draw

Open bm880 opened this issue 2 years ago • 12 comments

using the latest patch on CMP 90 HX, limiting power draw in 120W, resulting in a very low fps.

using the same patch on P104 models, work flawlessly. Any help?

Have you tried older versions?

I re-uploaded the latest release with some fixes, maybe this will help.

Now as few changes as possible are made to the driver (in fact, the mining cards are only switched from TCC to WDDM this is enough for 3D acceleration).

Maybe it somehow depends on PCI-E lines... on GPU-Z screenshot I see x4

Try this https://mega.nz/file/mJNihByZ#COVUYp3QNhtXT4TEHWcNWQqsx9oE5ctXBESq4LD_--E Password : VERSUSID

This is a driver from a user from the LTT forum

Hello! just tested this modded drivers and did not work, card isn't recognizing properly... yours and VersusID patches works flawlessly in all my other mining cards, except the CMP ones.

As I can see your card is using only x4 PCI-E lines. This severely limits performance.

For example, P106-100 uses x16 lines.

Being on an x4 link doesn't limit power consumption. The 3080 (same GA102 die) works fine over thunderbolt with effectively less than 4x link. It loses 10-20% performance vs x16 link, but doesn't power limit like what @bm880 showed.

thats my point.. it is a software issue that is capping power draw, and not a hardware limitation .

then can we do shunt mod to bypass the software limitation?
