Open With on Thunderbird 78 snap can't talk to the outside world

I installed Open With on Thunderbird 78, which is running as a snap app on Ubuntu 20.04. The extension appears to install ok, but after running the open_with_linux.py script, the installation test doesn't work. The dropdown menu said that it couldn't talk to the outside world. I'm not sure how to troubleshoot the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! -John

In my thunderbird the extension now works as expected.
