Is there an existing issue for this?

  1. install / drag the app to applications folder
  2. open/launch the application

Expected behavior

it should open

this time installed with homebrew and still the same issue from the context menu as well

@jeshwanthshivasai you need to open the terminal and follow the installation steps to remove the quarantine flag.

@jeshwanthshivasai I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "it". If you're asking whether you need to uncheck the quarantine property via a terminal command, then no, that's not the only way. Apple offers a way to do it via the GUI: https://support.apple.com/en-us/102445#openanyway

Well, it's simple, you can help make this step unnecessary for darktable too if you want. That would be a nice support for darktable.
