Follow request from Mastodon hangs

While the account is created and the RSS feed does update, it seems that the follow request does hang. In Mastodon I searched for the account, clicked on "follow" and at first it seems, that the follow request does succeed. But several minutes later, when I search the account again, it shows me the hourglass symbol. Although the RSS feed has been updated in the meantime, no messages are visible. One example is https://bots.tinysubversions.com/u/ndaktuell/

Hi, if you go to the profile page in Mastodon, is it now following the account? Sometimes it can take 5 or 10 minutes to fully complete the follow request. I believe this is due to rate limiting from Mastodon, depending on how many requests it's sent out to a particular server.

Sorry, still not following. It's from the instance @social.tchncs.de.

I tried now to follow from an alternative account on a pleroma instance. No luck there either for now.

Well, I'm able to follow from my Mastodon instance and also my Pleroma instance. (The former is a confirmed follow, it took about 30 seconds to process the Accept.)

Can you follow a different account from Mastodon, like @[email protected]?

I'm unsure of how to help with this because I can't reproduce the issue.
