At least not very well. To stop literate-ts, I usually grep for its PID and kill it. Not ideal!

There are many things which can make a DOM element appear or disappear. jquery.appear is better than the onscroll listeners that we currently use.

enhancement

There are lots of references to this: ``` $.data(this, 'preview') ``` Where `this` is `window`, i.e. the global variable. This is probably a mistake. It should be the grid container.

e.g. https://digitalcollections.nypl.org/items/510d47d9-4ec5-a3d9-e040-e00a18064a99 They seem to all be in the public domain?

e.g. http://www.oldnyc.org/#702463f-a ![screen shot 2016-04-16 at 2 05 42 pm](https://cloud.githubusercontent.com/assets/98301/14582780/615a2bec-03dc-11e6-9199-9638253cca08.png) The grid is a waste—should just cut straight to the details view.

For example, [485878](http://digitalcollections.nypl.org/items/510d47db-a115-a3d9-e040-e00a18064a99) is a perfectly nice image but it's dropped by `expand-pickle.py` for unclear reasons.

e.g. [1508746](http://digitalcollections.nypl.org/items/510d47e2-01a5-a3d9-e040-e00a18064a99#/?uuid=510d47e2-01a6-a3d9-e040-e00a18064a99). I'd previously thought that "id ends in `f`" was synonymous with "has backing text". The OldNYC UI suppresses the OCR correction link for these images.
