Can't bind fire/scan button on Valve Index

Open PiPi-EST opened this issue 2 years ago • 3 comments

As the title says, trigger button binding doesn't work for me. It looks like it's binded to primary fire in the ED menu, but doesn't actually fire.

It works for the buttons in the cockpit, but that's it. I've tried binding other buttons to fire aswell, but none of them have worked either. I've played around in SteamVR and ED settings, used a custom binding file i found posted here, switched to vive controllers in steam menu and so other things i found posted here aswell, none have worked so far. I feel like i'm missing something obvius, but at this point i don't know what to do anymore.

If it's bound to primary fire, then it sounds like ED is properly hearing vJoy inputs coming from the overlay.

Are you grabbing the joystick while you pull the trigger?

As i said, i'm missing something obvious lol. Not grabbing the joystick was the issue. I've never used a HOTAS system or anything like it so i didn't have the context that i should treat the trigger, buttons and POV controls as i would while holding a real joystick.

I understand that only the right controller has trigger, trackpad and A-B button functionality? Is there any way to use left one aswell or am i missing something?

Thanks for answering and for making this project!

The throttle should have Trigger/A/B functionality. Trackpad/thumbstick functionality is on hold till I figure out #51 and #47.
