Any chance we can remove the _Bitwise_hash usage?

I'm trying to fork the repo to do some of my own work on it, and _Bitwise_hash hasn't worked since VS 2015 or something. It was never supposed to be accessed according to this post. The project seems un-buildable with never VS versions. It would be nice to swap that hash template out for something else.
