How does this compare to attr_encrypted

Can you clarify in the README how this relates to https://github.com/attr-encrypted/attr_encrypted? It seems most of the code is derived from there but you dont provide any attribution or explanation.

Got it- so is there any reason for this project to still exist? If so then the above ref belongs in the README- otherwise it's just sowing confusion

You should use attr-encrypted/attr_encrypted since the fixes in this fork have now been backported to the original project.
