CD support and registry editing

For games with CD check (and CD audio), Wine will treat host's virtual/physical CDROM as a mounted folder, so these games will not work, and those that don't check for CD still won't have CD music, correct? Is it somehow possible to install/use a portable CD mount/emulator in the same container where the game is?

What about registry tweaking - I've just installed a game, but when I run it, it displays an error that I know is registry related and I'd like to tweak that, but how? On the other hand, why didn't the installer set up those registry entries correctly in the first place?
