Student recording - error (rotating QR code)

One of our teacher has reported a problem to us: Not every student was able to self-register himself/herself with the rotating QR code.

We can confirm an issue that seems to be a bug: If the session starts at 12:47 PM and the student tries to register at 12:45 PM with the QR code that is displayed in the lecture hall, it is not possible - as expected. But an error is displayed if the students closes the session and afterwards tries to register later for the slot (12:49) (see screenshot 1). Even if the teacher changes the settings him/ her can't record his attendance. Furthermore a password is required (see screenshot 2) - since no password in combination with the rotating QR code is displayed. Our settings for testing:

• Allow students to record own attendance
• Allow students to update own attendance
• Include QR code
• Rotate QR code
• Automatically select highest status available

We use the latest release 2023041800 and Moodle 4.3.

Hi, The problem was also reported by another teacher. It seems that some students are experiencing problems because no password is displayed as an alternative to the QR code. @danmarsden Are there any plans to display the password in combination with the rotating QR again?
