added a platform check to CMake

I am not sure if the warning properly communicates the intention. I did not want to make too verbose.

I do not want to refrain from using it on those platforms but inform that we do not actively make sure that it is actually working. Essentially people need to run the tests before using it to make sure that it is actually working as intended.
