I can confirm that this issue still exists. I'm not sure if it's a problem with how the gnome-codec-install utility is invoked or if it just doesn't work on Ubuntu.
I haven't tried on any other distro. I believe only the element name is sent, so it should still work regardless of what options Arista uses after the codec/container/etc element...
