ipad transcoding of flv has audio pops

Open bherrmann7 opened this issue 14 years ago • 5 comments

Fantastic work. When transcoding an flv (tried with multiple flv files from youtube) files with 0.9.5, playback on the computer and on the ipad has noticeable audio pops/noise about once a second. Makes an otherwise delightful experience disappointing.

Hmm, this is a problem with the underlying multimedia framework: GStreamer. Can you provide a sample where this happens and the version of GStreamer you have installed?

Thanks for the detailed info and test file. I am able to confirm the issue and am working on a fix or workaround.

This bug also seems to have been reported here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gstreamer/+bug/379230

Nobody seems to know why this is happening, so I've reported an upstream bug here: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=652765

I can confirm this problem for videos encoded to other presets as well (tested with "DivX Home Theater" and "G1/Dream"). This only happens with .flv files.

The same videos encoded with Transmageddon on the same machine do NOT have this problem, so I doubt it is a pure GStreamer issue.
