Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid - Can't download missing packages from gstreamer - e.g. mpeg2enc , xvidenc, etc

When trying to convert to dvd I get a message trying to install gstreamer mpeg2enc, after the search it shows it can't download ther component. I have install manually gstreamer bad , but not success.

Try to install ubuntu-restricted-extras package and try again. It works for me.

The auto-installation is apparently distribution-dependent and doesn't work well on Ubuntu. I still haven't gotten a straight answer about how it should work, so until it does it's likely you'll need to do as fenicks says and manually install the packages you need. Hope it works!
