what's the state of this experiment?

Hi,

I wonder what is the state of this experiment in context of https://github.com/asdf-vm/asdf/issues/290?

I am looking to try it out and see how it works and I wonder if there are any surprises to look for - as most activity in repo was ~3y ago.

Just tested (build from master), works amazing.
