Embeds no longer work on older mobile clients

I'm thinking that this (https://github.com/FxEmbed/FxEmbed/commit/8c0a608d411cc334c5ea169e6fbb6f2d9fed939d) commit broke embeds for older versions of discord mobile. Plenty of people use a version before the mobile shittification still and we get no embed at all now. Is there a way around this?

I'm using 205.15 myself and embeds show empty now, other services such as vxtwitter and girlcockx work just fine still.

It appears to be limited to videos, images do embed semi-properly. They show up and you can browse them.

Hi, as a workaround to this problem I added the ability to use the old embed style with the o flag:

o.fxtwitter.com o.fixupx.com o.fxbsky.app

The old embed can't support any of the new features:

• Better text formatting for video
• Date/time on posts
• Profile pictures on all posts
• Inline linking, links to username and hashtag
• Longer posts
• etc

But it will ensure videos work as expected for you. Unfortunately I don't have a better alternative unless you update your app so it works fine natively, as all of this works on the latest versions of Android, iOS, Desktop/Web. Not sure what the oldest version of Discord Android that supports it is.

I appreciate the thought and while that does help for links we post ourselves, this obviously makes no different to links posted by others who are oblivious to our woes 😔

If there is no way to fix this using the new fxembed style I think we will have no choice but to content with broken embeds from the fix links. Not like it is inherently making it worse now from stock embeds 🥲

the real question is: do we need all of theses new feature ?

I mean, okay it's interesting to have new feature, but if these feature broke content for old client and for external client, I can't be happy at all... People post links for other people in the hope that they'll be able to see it (mostly image/video), not really for profile picture or link to the username/hashtag when they just can click on the twitter link.

Btw, Do we know what is the problem exactly ? Why the embed isn't working anymore for image and video on the old/external client ? Is it because of the "forcemozaic" everywhere? This library isn't working as intended?

fxtwitter embeds were actually working for a few days longer than vxtwitter, but I'm not sure if it was because it was behind or it broke something with the new features later.

I use Aliucord, it's an app for the old mobile client, meaning this issue is affecting me too. There's so many Aliucord users, and the app's purpose is to use the old client, so it won't be updating at all, like ever. So it's not like it's only an extremely niche group of people using the regular discord app and refusing to update, it's also the entire Aliucord user base too, so there's actually more people being affected by this issue than it seems.

Thank you so much for this workaround, I'm very grateful for it, honestly. But I also wish it wasn't broken unless you use this workaround which no one I talk to will, only me 😔

also I can say the last version of discord mobile is extremely slow and laggy. It's really unpleasant to use.
