The "methoxide" is connected to the tin, not an anion.

It should be possible to give methoxide (and other analogous terms e.g. ethoxide) similar behaviour to "oxide" i.e. covalently bound to elements with similar electronegativity and ionic in other cases e.g. sodium methoxide.
