Use sockets
What do you want
dxhd should use sockets to achieve more.
Why
it will give us an opportunity to do more with dxhd (such as disabling and re-enabling a keybinding at run-time without having to edit a config file and restart dxhd).
Implementation hints
Unix sockets, most likely.
