🧩 FEATURE REQUEST: Notification filter
Concise Description
Add a filter in the notification panel
Description
Purpose of the idea:
I’ve begun using the mobile app for daily.dev, and I appreciate the notifications whenever a discussion I’m interested in commences. However, there are instances when I’m not interested in certain updates or don’t want to be notified about specific categories.
The situation becomes even more frustrating when the app (and desktop browser) is excessively cluttered with an unreasonable number of notifications.
Consequently, a filter that enables users to selectively receive notifications would be highly valued.
Solution Proposed
Starting with the web platform…
First, introduce a filter in the notification panel that allows users to select the categories they want to be notified about.
For instance, you could add the following categories:
- Interactions: Upvotes & comments about your content.
- Followed: It can be creators and categories followed.
- Updates: changes or new content from posts you interacted with (e.g bookmarked, upvoted, commented on, etc)
- Squads: updates related to squads the user is member of.
- Recommended: Suggestions offered by Daily.dev the user might be interested in.
The feature should allow users to freely select which categories they want to be notified about. Additionally, it should include the ability to mute notifications from a specific squad or content creator (if possible).
As for mobile users…
Ensure that the filter system extends to mobile push notifications. This way, the app badge counter won’t inflate excessively, and notifications will become more meaningful and engaging..
